Site Introduction:

The aim of this site is to promote the understanding and use of Java applets as interactive tools for accurate subsystem design and for exploring the design/operation of microwave components applied to Electronic Warfare systems.

On-site courses up to 5 days duration based on the book can be arranged.

The tools developed in the book, MICROWAVE SYSTEM DESIGN TOOLS & EW APPLICATIONS - Second Edition, model all the components and subsystems used in modern EW systems and simplify,


1. Corner-limit design of modern Electronic Warfare receiving systems.
2. Evaluating microwave receiver component and system designs.

Abstract:
The original aims of the software ebook are maintained in this second edition. The project is intended to support microwave system designers and offers an alternative approach for the accurate design and specification of microwave components and systems for Electronic Warfare equipment.
This edition combines a conventional technical text book with a complementary interactive electronic book on a CDROM. Whilst the book stands alone as a practical microwave system design reference, the CDROM runs on a personal computer and contains 46 independent small software applications paralleling and building on the topics covered in the text. The software applications or applets, are intuitive, interactive graphical tools, which apply the design theory outlined in the book to produce accurate target models.
This book restructures and expands the technical manual provided in the first edition software package into nine chapters. All the original applets have been improved and nine new applets added.
The principal aims of this method of information presentation are to simplify microwave system design and to speed up the user understanding and learning process. The use of Java applets to explore difficult concepts has grown considerably in recent years and the advantages of truly interactive electronic books are now widely recognized.

    The design topics cover the most important technical requirements likely to be met in the EW system design field.

    This ebook toolbox exploits Java applets as a very convenient graphical method for not only calculating accurate design parameters, but also serving as a valuable interactive learning aid.
    The microwave design topics have been selected to cover technical requirements likely to be met in the microwave radar and EW system design fields.
    The 37 applets are complete component or subsystem simulations and are backed up by short background summaries and derivations of the key analysis equations used to model the subject. The eBook includes an extensively hyperlinked technical manual.
    In most cases, there is a facility for saving design data to a built-in data console and extracting this to the Windows clipboard for use in other applications, or for incorporation directly into a customer design specification.
